Castle Corporate Finance (“Castle”) is pleased to announce the sale of the Mad About Music Group (“Mad About Music”) to GAK.
Mad About Music and its subsidiaries, DJM Music Limited and Tiger Music Distribution Limited is an e-commerce retailer and Amazon vendor of own-branded musical instruments, operating across the UK and Europe. Founded in 2002, the group has a built an excellent reputation for high quality products and accessories, encapsulated within its vibrant brands.
GAK is an exciting and established omni-channel retailer, looking to expand and grow its online and retail opportunities, which was recently backed by Risk Capital Partners.
Castle negotiated terms and managed the transaction to ensure a satisfactory outcome for all parties, and Cripps Pemberton Greenish provided legal advice to the sellers, Darren and Leisa Mennie.
Darren Mennie, Mad About Music Founder and Managing Director, commented: “We are really happy that the acquisition of Mad About Music has completed and know that GAK is the perfect match. The transaction was handled professionally by all parties which we are very grateful for, and we are looking forward to see the group go from strength to strength.”
Victoria Ansell, Castle director, added: “This has been a long road for Darren, and we were pleased to be able to guide him through the process. Selling a company you have built from scratch is never easy, but GAK is well placed to make the most of the opportunity to scale Tiger and provide that all important ‘good home’ as the business moves forward. We now wish Darren and Leisa a rather more relaxed Christmas, and all the best for a more peaceful new year.”
Max McKellar, Co-Managing Director of GAK, added: “This acquisition offers great synergy between the Mad About Music and GAK skill sets, market reach and operations. We are very much looking forward to the opportunities this opens up for the combined group in 2022 and beyond.”
Castle Corporate Finance, led by Victoria Ansell and Manager, Alex Nursey, acted as lead adviser to Mad About Music on the transaction, with legal advice provided by Cripps Pemberton Greenish.
